We’re sure the lovely Simone Anderson needs no introduction to Friends of Adashiko.

You may follow her on social media yourself, or if you’ve been with us for a while you may recognise her as the, self-proclaimed, “Adashiko-obsessed” beauty she is.

When we talk about Simone’s beauty, we’re going deep ~ yes she exudes external radiance ~ lush long locks + hydrated, healthy + glowing skin but she’s also a true representation of wellness from within.

It’s Simone’s consistent commitment to well-being that first aligned her with Adashiko.

After starting her “Journey to Health'' 8 years ago, losing 92kgs + undergoing major upper-body skin removal, Simone went in search of a product that would aid her scar healing + recovery prior to undergoing the same surgery to her lower-body.

Simone had heard + read wonderful reviews about Adashiko Collagen Powder which gave her the reassurance she needed to create a daily collagen ritual that focused on supporting her health from the inside out.

Last time we chatted with Simone was prior to her marrying her love, Trent, + giving birth to their two beautiful boys ~ darling Asher (19 months) + newest delicious addition (welcomed earth-side 21/01/2023), Ryder. Now a beautiful family of 5 (don’t forget fur-baby Maddox), we thought it was time to catch up again…

Pour yourself your drink of choice + take 5 minutes with us. Read our Q+A with Simone where she touches on the appearance of her scars post-surgery, the increased hair + nail growth she’s experienced, new-found skin confidence, daily rituals, what health + beauty means to her + what brings her inner peace.

This is the 10th piece in our series > Getting to Know the Lovers of Adashiko. We hope you enjoy the read as much as we loved the chat.

Must-have Adashiko Collagen + Skincare: I use the Ultra Collagen Powder + then literally the ENTIRE skincare range, I love how beautifully the products work with each other ~ how they layer + how they feel on my skin. Each new product Adashiko released I would try + think “OK well now I need this too” - my skin care + body range kept building + now I am proud to use every single Adashiko product.

I absolutely LOVE the collagen masques for those super special occasions, I will add this into every prep moment as a little luxury! I also use the Collagen Balm on EVERYTHING, including my beautiful boys, it’s truly a game changer of a product.

What benefits have you noticed since using / taking Adashiko? For me, the main benefit I first noticed was how quickly my scars healed to colourless. I started using the Ultra Collagen Powder a few months before I underwent my second major skin removal surgery. I noticed my scars healing around 3-months post-surgery, whereas for my first surgery it was around the year-mark. Such a huge difference.

Then there were the added benefits of noticing my nails which never grew, suddenly they needed trimming! And my hair, being blonde, basically stayed the same length due to snapping + also suddenly needed regular trims. And then came one of the strangest things ever… not once had I been complimented on my skin. Then suddenly everywhere I went (makeup free) I kept being told how incredible my skin was. This was such a nice compliment + really showed what a difference the range was making, considering this only happened post-Adashiko!

Aside from Adashiko, what can’t-live-without products might we find in your bathroom / kitchen: My bathroom is pretty simple… Adashiko, my dental care + my hair care by Angel (also a beautiful natural range). In my kitchen you’ll also find my vitamins. My morning ritual is a big glass of water with Adashiko collagen powder followed by my vitamins.

Daily Skincare Ritual:

In the AM

  • Cleanse
  • Moisturise face
  • Moisturise body

In the PM

  • Double cleanse
  • Moisturise face
  • Eye cream
  • Serum 3x per week
  • Retinol
  • Exfoliate 3 x per week

Do you have any wellness rituals you practice daily? I meditate, journal + practice self-affirmations + gratitude daily + have now for nearly 8 years - it sets me up for such a powerful day in terms of my mindset.

What does health + beauty mean to you? For me, health is about my ability to go about my day feeling my fittest, heaviest + best self ~ from being 169kgs + struggling to walk up my own driveway, these basic everyday feelings + abilities are what I now focus on. In terms of beauty, it’s how I feel within myself that is important to me - my inner thoughts + wellness are far more important + what I focus on rather than my exterior “beauty”.

What’s the most timeless health or beauty advice you’ve been given? To drink enough water! It’s such common sense but it truly makes a world of difference to my skin if I’m hydrated.

Who is your biggest inspiration? My Mother - she is the kindest, most hardworking woman I know. She puts everyone else before herself + I admire her ability to captivate a room with her warm presence.

Reading: If You Tell by Greg Olsen

Watching: I’m actually not a huge TV watcher - will pick organising a cupboard over TV any day + I know this makes me a huge weirdo.

Favourite >

To cook: Miso Ramen (well Trent makes this + I enjoy eating it, haha)

To dine: Anything Asian fusion - OBSESSED!

Favourite New Zealand location(s): Honestly, I’m constantly finding new beautiful spots that I love when we travel around NZ, I feel so lucky to call this place home. If I had to pick one location I’d say Queenstown as that’s where Trent proposed, where we went on our honeymoon + first family holiday with Asher, so it brings back such special memories.

Bucket-list location anywhere in the world: Europe - ANYWHERE with a cocktail in hand by the ocean.

Favourite way to move your body? I LOVE getting that adrenaline rush + feeling my endorphins rush - so high intensity training is my go-to. I’ve been doing F45 daily for 5 years now + I’m still not sick of it.

Favourite quote to share with Friends of Adashiko:

Always be yourself.
At the end of the day,
that’s all you’ve really got;
when you strip
everything down, that’s
all you’ve got,
So always be yourself.

How do you want to be remembered by your closest family + friends? As someone they could trust + rely on in all situations - not just the happy, beautiful times but also through the tough, hard times in life. Someone who was always there for them + supported them through it all. And I would hope someone they could have fun with + laugh constantly with.

What brings you peace? Being with my family - don’t have to be doing anything special, they just bring me the most inner peace. I feel at home no matter where I am if I’m with Trent, Asher, Ryder + Maddox (our furry baby).
